Refund Policy

Helm is operated by Jeffrey Hall d/b/a Helm ("Helm", "we", "us"). This policy explains how we handle refunds for subscriptions and one-time purchases.
Subscriptions (Mate, Captain)
Monthly subscriptions
Monthly subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis. You may cancel at any time through your account dashboard or by emailing support@helmjobs.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you retain access through that date.
We do not offer refunds for partial months or unused time on monthly subscriptions.
Annual subscriptions
Annual subscriptions may be refunded on a pro-rated basis within the first 30 days of purchase. After 30 days, annual subscriptions are non-refundable, but you retain access through the end of the term and may cancel future renewals.
Subscription downgrades
If you downgrade from Captain to Mate, or from Mate to Crew (free), the change takes effect immediately. We issue a prorated credit for the unused portion of your current billing period, applied to your next invoice or refunded to your original payment method if no future charges are scheduled.
One-time purchases (Career Boost Pack)
The Career Boost Pack ($29.99) includes 5 resume tailors, 5 cover letters, and 1 interview prep brief. Boost Pack credits expire 90 days after purchase.
Boost Pack purchases are refundable within 7 days of purchase if no credits have been used. Once any credit is consumed, the Boost Pack becomes non-refundable.
Free tier (Crew)
The Crew tier is free. There is nothing to refund.
How to request a refund
Refund requests should be sent to support@helmjobs.com with:
- The email address on your Helm account
- The approximate date of purchase
- A brief reason for the refund (optional but helpful)
We respond to refund requests within 3 business days. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method via Stripe and typically appear on your statement within 5–10 business days.
Exceptions and discretion
We may issue refunds outside the rules above at our discretion in cases of:
- Significant service outages or extended downtime
- Billing errors or duplicate charges
- Accounts compromised through no fault of the user
- Other circumstances we judge to be fair
Refunds for credit card disputes ("chargebacks") are handled separately by Stripe and your card issuer. We encourage you to contact us first before filing a chargeback — most issues can be resolved more quickly through direct support.
